Q: I want to participate in Shop Fishers, but I don’t know how. What do I need to do?

A: Shop Fishers is free to participate in, all you need to do is complete the business participation form by Friday, October 12. Once the form is completed, it will go to the City’s Public Relations team who will get your information included on the website, event map, and provide you with additional information about promoting the event.

Q: Is participation free?

A: Yes, there is no cost to participate in Shop Fishers.

Q: What does Shop Fishers entail?

A: Shop Fishers is Fishers’ take on Small Business Saturday, a nationwide celebration that takes place the Saturday after Thanksgiving as a kickoff to the holiday shopping season. During Shop Fishers, local businesses citywide will offer discounts and/or promotions for shoppers, which the City will help to promote through a coordinated social media and marketing campaign.

Q: When is Shop Fishers?

A: Shop Fishers kicks off on Saturday, November 24, the same day as Small Business Saturday. However, businesses can choose to participate throughout the entire holiday season, and the City will continue promotion throughout the holiday season.

Q: What type of promotion should I run during Shop Fishers?

A: There are many ways to entice shoppers by offering sales, promotions, or exclusive items during Shop Fishers. Details can be whatever works best for your business/service. Businesses with questions or wanting to vet ideas can contact Stephanie Perry, Assistant Director of PR for the City of Fishers via email at perrys@fishers.in.us to brainstorm ideas.

 A few examples include:

  • -        A free gift with purchase (could be limited to the first XXX customers),
  • -        A percentage or dollar discount (this could be all day or limited to a certain time period),
  • -        Complimentary refreshments while shopping,
  • -        Exclusive items available and/or product samples, or
  • -        Gift cards deals (purchase a $100 gift card and get a free $XXX gift card with it).

Q: What kind of exposure will I earn if I participate?

A: This is hard to anticipate! The City will promote the event through marketing, public relations, and digital efforts. Participating businesses will be listed on the City of Fishers website and included in the event flyer/map. Opportunities to be featured/quoted in news outlets or promotional materials will be make available to participants, as they’re available.



Q: How can I help support Shop Fishers?

A: Part of the success of Shop Fishers is due to collaboration between the City and local businesses. A digital toolkit will be provided with sample social media content to help you promote your involvement in the initiative. Outside of sharing social media or email content, the City may ask you to display an event flyer and window decal at your business. We encourage you to promote the event to your patrons, friends, and family as well.
