Position Description

Put your IT skills to work beyond the common office building and into a more dynamic work environment. The City of Fishers is seeking a part-time Help Desk Support Specialist to provide first level technical support and assistance for the user community. The IT Department prides itself on keeping up with modern technology and this position offers a wide variety of experience in IT support. Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to, providing technical support to all customers (Fire and Police Departments, Administration, Public Works, etc.), receiving calls, mobile devices support, entering tracking tickets, hardware and software configuration and troubleshooting.

Examples of Duties

  • Provide exceptional customer service and technical support for network users
  • Troubleshoot hardware, software, operating system, printer and telephone issues over the telephone
  • Provide support for mobile devices (iPADs, MiFis, cell phones, tablets).
  • Use various administrative tools and on-line resources to fix user issues
  • Assist staff in troubleshooting and resolving communications or computer equipment problems or failures
  • Configure/customize newly purchased PC's for users
  • Assist System Administrators as required
  • Use trouble ticket system for tracking customer interactions and problem resolution
  • Logs and tracks open user issues through Track it

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School Diploma
  • Associate Degree or higher preferred
  • 2 years in a technical support/help desk role in a professional setting preferred
  • Proficient in iOS, Microsoft Windows 10 and Windows 7 Professional
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office 2016 and Office 365 modules
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent organizational, planning and priority setting skills
  • Self-motivated and enthusiastic team player
  • Detail oriented
  • Ability to interact in a courteous, helpful and professional manner
  • Ability to analyze technical problems and provide logical and effective solutions
  • Ability to read, interpret and apply technical information from resource manuals
  • Function well in a fast-paced work environment
  • Must be able to lift 40 pounds

Supplemental Information

Core hours are Monday through Friday, 8:30am to 4:30pm. Approximately 25 hours per week.
