Public Health Nursing 

Public Health Nursing is a specialty practice in the fields of both nursing and public health. Public health nursing is also often referred to as community health nursing. Our nurses wear a number of hats and serve many roles, but always with a focus on population-based prevention-focused services. 

List of Services offered by Fishers Health Department Public Health Nursing

  • Clinic Services
    • Public health nursing coordinates a clinic for the public for insured, uninsured and underinsured individuals. Currently, services offered are TB  testing, immunizations, blood pressure screenings and more. Check back soon for additional services added. Please note that our clinics are nurse-run and we do not typically have a prescriber present. We do not offer physical exams or prescription services.
  • Immunizations
    • COVID Vaccinations 
    • All recommended vaccinations for children and adults
    • Provision of immunization records from Indiana's immunization registry
    • Facilitation for accessing your MyVax Indiana account to view immunization history
  • Reportable Communicable Diseases
    • Surveillance, monitoring and management of reportable conditions to prevent more people from being infected
    • Expert resource for providers seeking guidance on reportable conditions
  • School Liaison 
    • Public health nursing resources and support for school and childcare providers
    • Facilitation of health education programming and resources
    • Coordination for school-based services such as immunization clinics
