Wastewater Utility

The wastewater group is a subset of the Water Quality Division.  The Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) receives wastewater from the City of Fishers Sanitary Sewer District.  Wastewater is conveyed through increasingly larger pipes and lift stations until it reaches the Cheeney Creek Wastewater Treatment Facility on Eller Road.  The Cheeney Creek Wastewater Treatment Facility is classified as a 10-million-gallons-a-day (MGD) facility. The Wastewater team is responsible for:

  • Treating over 2.5 billion gallons of wastewater annually
  • Fats, Oils, and Grease (FOG) management, a service for restaurants and bars to ensure proper collection and disposal of FOG materials
  • Annual sanitary sewer cleaning of 110 miles of sewer pipe
  • Sump Pump Disconnection Program – Sump pumps cannot be connected to sanitary sewer lines
  • Manage capital improvement projects for extensive upgrades and improvements to address an aging system, expand capacity, and meet new regulatory requirements.
  • Televising and inspecting over 39 miles of sanitary sewer
