Sworn Selection Process

The selection process that all applicants must go through to become a Fishers Police Officer consists of a variety of tests, assessments, and investigations that assist the department in employing those applicants best suited for police work. This process can take anywhere from 9 - 12 months from the date of initial online application.

Step 1 - Online Application
Step 2 - Physical Fitness Testing
Step 3 - Entry Level Written Examination
Step 4 - Oral Interview
Step 5 - Personal History Statement
Step 6 - Pre-Background Interview
Step 7 - Command Staff Review
Step 8 - Background Investigation
Step 9 - Command Staff Review
Step 10 - Executive Command Staff Interview
Step 11 - Conditional Offer of Employment
Step 12 - Polygraph
Step 13 - Psychological Examination
Step 14 - Medical Examination
Step 15 - Local Pension Board Approval
Step 16 - State PERF Acceptance
Step 17 - Chief’s Final Review
Step 18 - Employment Offer-One year probation
Step 19 - Successful Completion of the Indiana Law Enforcement Academy
Step 20 - Successful Completion of the Field Training and Evaluation Process
