[ARCHIVED] I69 Bus Fire

Fishers-Ind. A Ball State University bus driver escaped unharmed when the bus he was driving caught fire on I69 SB at the 208th mile marker. Fishers Fire and Emergency Services, with Noblesville Fire Department, responded finding a bus fully involved with fire. Crews quickly extinguished the fire.

The bus was on its way to The Indianapolis International Airport to pick up students when the driver noticed smoke coming from the rear of the bus. He pulled over and called 911 and exited the bus without injury.

The bus was a total loss and University officials were making alternate arrangements to meet the students. Specific cause of the fire is under investigation.

Traffic in both directions is backed up. Officials recommend alternative routes for the next hour while this incident is cleared up.
