[ARCHIVED] Fishers PD Arrests Juvenile for Armed Robbery

The Fishers Police Department is investigating an armed robbery that occurred overnight at a local gas station.

Just before 1:00am an employee of the Ricker’s Gas Station, located at 13642 Olivia Way (Olio Road and Southeastern Parkway) called 911 to report an armed robbery. The employee described the suspect as a male dressed in black and armed with a large knife. The employee told Dispatch the suspect fled the store on foot.

Police officers from Fishers, Noblesville, and the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Department responded to the area and began searching for the suspect. The employee reported the suspect entered the store and walked around for a while before going into the men’s restroom. She then observed the suspect exit the restroom, run behind the counter and threatened her with a large knife. The suspect demanded cash and the employee complied. The employee reported that the suspect placed an unknown amount of cash and merchandise in a bag before running out of the store. The employee was not injured during this robbery.

A short time later two Sheriff’s Deputies, from Hamilton County, located a person matching the suspect’s description hiding next to a nearby restaurant. The deputies were able to detain the subject without incident. The subject was returned to the gas station where the employee and two witnesses positively identified him as the person that committed the robbery. Officers also recovered the stolen items as well as the knife used during the robbery.

The suspect was transported to the Fishers Police Department. It was determined the suspect was a juvenile and his parents were contacted. Detectives met with the suspect’s parents and explained the situation. The suspect was then transported to the Hamilton County Juvenile Detention Center without incident.

Chief of Police George Kehl would like to thank the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Department and the Noblesville Police Department for their assistance.
