For the eight consecutive year the City of Fishers is celebrating their designation as a 2016 Playful City USA Community. Recognized by KaBOOM!, a national non-profit dedicated to community play, the award honors efforts over the last year to encourage playability throughout Fishers. The designation comes on the heels of the May through August Fun Guide, filled with play opportunities all summer long.
“One of our biggest assets as a community is the overall quality of life in Fishers,” stated Mayor Scott Fadness. “Opportunities for residents to play, regardless of age or activity, are vital for economic development, community building and continued vibrancy.”
Fishers Parks & Recreation is committed to creating innovative ways to bring back play and attract residents through family friendly activities. The 2016 May through August Fun Guide is filled with diverse programs and community-wide events residents can enjoy.
“Our department knows the importance of play, and we’re committed to creating fun ways to do so, year-round,” said Tony Elliot, Director of Fishers Parks & Recreation. “We strive to offer diverse youth programming, creative community-wide events, and facilities that encourage nature exploration and outdoor recreation.”
Residents are encouraged to visit the Fun Guide, online and to connect with Fishers Parks & Recreation on Facebook and Twitter to stay informed on upcoming events and programs.
