Fishers, (Indiana) – Fishers Police continue to investigate after one person was killed in a motor vehicle crash on Interstate 69 last night.
Shortly after 10pm The Hamilton County Communications Center began receiving reports of a serious motor vehicle crash on Interstate 69 at the 204 mile marker. Fishers Police and Fishers Department of Fire and Emergency Response arrived a shortly time later and located a white 2015 Freightliner semi-tractor trailer and a white 2010 Toyota Rav 4 passenger car in the southbound lanes. The Toyota was wedged under the rear of the trailer. Paramedics located one person deceased inside the Toyota. The driver of the semi was not injured and fully cooperated with the investigation.
Based on witness statements and evidence at the scene it is believed both the semi-tractor trailer and the Toyota were traveling southbound when the Toyota rear-ended the trailer. The exact cause of this crash is yet to be determined. This crash continues to be an active investigation. Currently, alcohol or drugs do not appear to be a factor in this crash. All southbound were re-opened at 1:30am.
