[ARCHIVED] Fishers Police Investigate Death on Geist Reservoir

(Fishers, Indiana) - The Fishers Police Department is investigating the overnight death of a kayaker on Geist Reservoir.

Shortly after 11:00 pm, on Tuesday, June 16th, the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department contacted Fishers police regarding a missing person investigation.

Fishers Police Officers located the missing person and his kayak at approximately 1:00am on June 17th. The kayaker was pronounced dead at the scene. Fishers Detectives, Evidence Technicians, and Conservation Officers from the Indiana Department of Natural Resources responded. At this time, based on the investigation, this death appears to be an accidental drowning. Foul play is not suspected.

The Fishers Police Department and the Department of Natural Resources will conduct joint investigations. Both investigations remain active. Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to contact Detective Edgar Holmes at 317-595-1430.

MEDIA PERSONNEL – The identity of the deceased will be released by the Hamilton County Coroner’s Office.
